Allah the Source of Faith

The Orphaned Girl

Kayla was a girl born in a mixed racial and religious family. Her father was a European, and her mother was an African. She was turning nine years old that year. Unfortunately, after her parents died in an accident, she lived in an orphanage. Sometimes when she got upset, she would ask the caregiver in her orphanage why had God taken her parents away from her. The caregiver answered her, “That is because God loves them more than us. God takes your parents away from you to keep them in a nicer place.”

A Beautiful Sound

Next to the orphanage, there happened to be a small Muslim shop and every day, the children from the orphanage would board their school bus right in front of the Muslim shop. After school, the school bus would also alight the children at the Muslim shop. Kayla liked to go into the Muslim shop before returning to the orphanage. She would go to the shop to listen to the beautiful sound which she did not understand. One day, she went into the shop and asked the shopkeeper what that sound was. She commented that it sounded so beautiful to her ears.

The Gift

The shopkeeper explained to Kayla that the sound was the recitations from the Holy Quran. Kayla listened to it carefully. She liked the beautiful sound, and she asked the shopkeeper what language that was. The shopkeeper replied to her that it was the Arabic language. Kayla asked again, “Why is it in Arabic language?” The shopkeeper explained, “It is because the prophet that was sent was an Arab man. Another reason is that Arabic language is the language of the people in heaven.” “It is beautiful. How can I learn the Arabic language? Is there a book for it?” asked Kayla excitedly. So, the shopkeeper gave Kayla a small book as a guide for her to understand the Arabic language.

The Accident

As Kayla was crossing the street one day, a car suddenly hit her. In the car, there was a lady, Mdm. Salamah, and her son, Shameer. Mdm. Salamah was so shocked when she saw that Kayla’s head was bleeding very badly. So, she brought Kayla to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. While talking to each other, Mdm. Salamah found out that Kayla was an orphan and she would like to invite Kayla to live with her and her son. Kayla was so happy to hear that, but she said Mdm. Salamah would have to ask for permission from the orphanage first.

After the Adoption

After processing the adoption, Kayla moved into Mdm. Salamah’s home. Every day, Kayla would watch Mdm. Salamah and Shameer pray together. She would also listen to Mdm. Salamah teaching the Quran recitations to Shameer.

Allah the Guidance

One day, Kayla said to Mdm. Salamah, “I want to learn how to pray and read the Quran. I want to believe in Allah.” “Alhamdulillah, Ya Allah Ya Mukmin. May He guide your faith,” cried Mdm. Salamah. “But why do you want to believe in Allah? If you want to believe in Allah, you will have to become a Muslimah,” asked Shameer. “I don’t mind being a Muslimah because I like God Allah. I cannot see God Allah, but I can feel his greatness in His Creations and in His Quranic sounds,” explained Kayla. “Alhamdulillah,” said Mdm. Salamah. “Allah Al-Mukmin must have guided your faith to become His believer.”
